Replace the traditional winch hook with a secure and stronger FlatLink shackle thimble and D-ring shackle. The FlatLink shackle mount is the industry's first hinged shackle mount for recovery winches. Traditional winch hooks can cut and fray recovery straps, and often the strap ends can escape during the short-term slackening cycles of a typical winch recovery. Screw-bolt shackles do not allow strap loops to escape due to the secure attachment. The FlatLink does not require splicing and is compatible with steel or synthetic rope up to 3/8" in diameter. The rope eye is held in the FlatLink by a 5/8" diameter double grade 5 steel shear pin with an internal locking ring. It installs in minutes. The EPDM rubber guard protects the expensive aluminum fairlead, for example, and is securely attached to the FlatLink with 4 barbs. The FlatLink easily attaches to roller or aluminum winches and is designed for use with standard 3/4" shackles.
