Which WARN winch is right for your application?

VR EVO: electric winches in several pulling power classes

The VR EVO is WARN's standard-duty series for vehicles. In our range, you will find, among others, the VR EVO 8-S, the VR EVO 10-S, and the VR EVO 12-S in 12-volt versions with synthetic rope. Compare the rated pulling power, dimensions, and scope of delivery on the product pages. Even within a model range, the rope equipment and control system may differ.

ZEON XD, ZEON, and ZEON Platinum

The ZEON XD belongs to WARN's premium series. The ZEON XD 12-S is an option to compare with a VR EVO in the same pulling power class. WARN distinguishes the model ranges, among other things, by gearbox, drum, sealing, and control system. In the shop, you will also find products from the ZEON and ZEON Platinum series. Pay close attention to the exact generation: accessories and spare parts are not interchangeable simply because they share the ZEON name.

M8000 and other WARN winches

The WARN M8000 in 12 volts as well as matching vehicle sets complement the selection. For an existing build, the approved winch, mounting space, and existing electrical system are important criteria. For other tasks, there is, for example, the Drill Winch for cordless screwdrivers. Such portable devices and vehicle recovery winches perform different tasks; choose them according to the intended application.

WARN winch sets for your vehicle

A vehicle-specific mounting kit helps you plan the winch and mounting together. Examples from our range:

Always check the year of manufacture, engine, body style, and notes on sensors or other vehicle options. The term "set" does not indicate which components are included on its own. Therefore, compare the winch, bracket, rope, fairlead, and electrical components with the stated scope of delivery.

Remote controls, ropes, and spare parts

For accessories and repairs, you need the exact model designation and, if possible, the WARN part number. For a remote control, the connection, control system, and generation matter; for a replacement rope, the diameter, length, and approval for winches and fairleads are also important. If in doubt, send us the data from the nameplate and photos of the existing components. Request suitable WARN accessories.

Frequently asked questions about WARN winches

How much pulling power do I need?

As a starting point, WARN recommends multiplying the vehicle's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) by 1.5 for vehicle winches. This is a selection aid and not a calculation for every recovery situation. The ground, incline, rope placement, and the load capacity of the mounting affect the application. Therefore, compare the technical data and manufacturer specifications for your entire system. The WARN model overview explains the selection.

Do I need a WARN winch with 12 V or 24 V?

The operating voltage of the winch must match the intended power supply. In the shop, you will find 12-volt models and selected 24-volt versions. A higher voltage does not automatically mean higher pulling power. Before purchasing, also check the requirements for the battery, cables, and electrical fuse protection in the manual of the specific model.

Steel rope or synthetic rope?

Both options require a suitable winch, a suitable fairlead, and regular inspection. Compare the weight, handling, and maintenance requirements with your intended use. For the linked VR-EVO-S models and the ZEON XD 12-S, synthetic rope is specified. For a conversion, the manufacturer's approvals are decisive.

Is a wireless remote control always included?

The scope of delivery varies by model, generation, and set. Check the product description before ordering an additional remote control. An existing cable socket or the same brand is not sufficient proof of compatibility.

Where can I find current prices and delivery times?

The current prices and delivery information are listed with the items. For your budget, also compare the scope of delivery and any additional mounting components required. For advice on a complete build, tell us the vehicle, year of manufacture, engine, and intended use.

Can I lift loads with a vehicle winch?

A vehicle recovery winch is not a lifting device. WARN prohibits lifting or suspending loads, as well as moving people, with these winches. For lifting work, a device expressly designed for this purpose is required. Before installation and use, observe the original manual and the WARN guide to winch operation.
