The Flat Splicer is the world's first folding shackle-mounted winch cable splicer. Finished with a durable, hard-anodized Mil-Spec finish, the Flat Splicer folds flat against the fairlead to minimize frontal vehicle overhang. At just 1.75 inches thick and with integrated EPDM rubber bumpers, the Flat Splicer can accommodate both the pin and bow sections of common ¾ shackles, as well as the pin ends of larger 7/8 shackles. Notice how the spliced ​​cable exits the center of the piece and can be routed 90 degrees along the inner radius and back to the winch. This innovative design allows the Flat Splicer to be stowed with the groove side facing the winch, protecting the winch cable from harmful UV light and impact/abrasion. NOTE: Unlike the Factor 55 ProLink and Flatlink shackle mount products, the Splicer requires knowledge of splicing synthetic rope. We recommend either the locking Brummel Splice or the Long Bury Splice. There are many video tutorials online on how to splice rope. WLL: Due to the splice design, the Working Load Limit (WLL) is based on the rope diameter used. Each Splice-On Shackle Mount exceeds the minimum bend radius requirements to ensure the full breaking strength of the synthetic winch ropes used.
